One thing all people have in common is the problem of pain. As human beings living in a sin ravaged world with broken people, we will all experience at some time, some level of pain. Jesus tells us that in this world we will have pain, but He doesn't just leave it at that. John 16:33 KJV "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. " Yes He says we will have pain, not might, or hopefully not. But the thing to look at is not the problem of pain, but God's command to be cheerful. The word used in the original Greek is Tharsei, which according to Strong's Concordance is defined: I am of good courage, good cheer, am bold. In the very words of His command Jesus is giving us joy where we may be feeling sadness, courage instead of fear, and boldness where before was only timidity. This is how good our God is; He let's us know who we should have our eyes fixed on when He says " I have overcome the world." Yes, on the cross He bore our pain so that we might now live in the fullness of Himself, no longer shackled by pain and regret. God cares about our pain, He cares about the wrongs that we have experienced, and He wants us to live in freedom. This is the hope Jesus has given us, and the security of His word, and we know His word is true. Romans 8:18 ESV "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." Their is coming a day when the old things will pass away, and all will be new. A day when Jesus will right every wrong, and dry every tear, and this is what we press onwards for. That every one may know the riches of His love, and the wealth of His great grace. How sweet will be the day when we get to see Him face to face. How great will our joy be? Revelation 21:4 ESV "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Child of God in this world their will be trouble, but in times of great pain, we can still rejoice for we have a living hope. Hang on to Jesus, and even when You can't, He will hang on to you . John 10:29 NIV "My Father who has given them to me is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand."
